Elon Musk has publicly criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, labeling him as "crazy" and "incompetent" in response to Germany's decision to phase out nuclear power. This criticism came after a German government spokesperson, Steffen Hebestreit, defended the policy, stating that Germany's energy supply was secure despite the closure of its last three nuclear power plants in April 2023. Musk, who has been a proponent of nuclear energy, argued that the move away from nuclear power was misguided, especially given the global push towards sustainable energy solutions.
