Denver city official wins seat in state Senate, the third legislator selected by vacancy committee in recent days

A Denver city official, Rep. Tim Hernández, has been selected to fill a vacancy in the Colorado State Senate, representing District 3, which includes parts of Denver. This selection makes him the third legislator chosen by a vacancy committee in recent days, following the departure of Sen. James Coleman, who resigned to take a position in the administration of Denver Mayor Mike Johnston. Hernández, who has been serving in the Colorado House of Representatives since January 2023, will now move to the Senate, leaving his current House seat open. His appointment continues a trend of recent changes in Colorado's legislative body, reflecting shifts in political representation and administrative roles within the state.
