Ko Wen-je, the former mayor of Taipei and a previous presidential candidate for the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), has been indicted on charges of corruption. The allegations stem from his time as mayor, where he is accused of leaking confidential information to his son, Ko Cheng-heng, regarding a land development project in Taipei's Dazhi area. This information was reportedly used to benefit Ko Cheng-heng's business interests. The indictment also involves allegations of Ko Wen-je's involvement in a separate case concerning the misuse of public funds for a trip to Japan. These legal challenges come at a time when Ko has been attempting to position himself as a reformer in Taiwanese politics, aiming to combat corruption and improve governance.
