Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is set to be sworn in for another term on January 10, 2024, despite widespread skepticism regarding the legitimacy of the election results. The opposition and numerous international observers have raised concerns over the electoral process, citing irregularities and lack of transparency. Maduro's re-election in 2018 was already contentious, with many countries refusing to recognize the results due to allegations of fraud. Critics argue that the election was neither free nor fair, with opposition candidates barred from running and significant control over media and electoral bodies by the ruling party. Despite these controversies, Maduro's inauguration will proceed, further deepening the political divide both within Venezuela and internationally.
