The San Antonio City Council has recently approved new regulations aimed at managing the issue of loose and dangerous dogs within the city. The new ordinance increases fines for owners whose dogs are found roaming free, with penalties now reaching up to $500 for first-time offenders. Additionally, the council has granted the city's Animal Care Services (ACS) the authority to mandate the sterilization of dogs deemed dangerous. This measure is part of a broader effort to reduce the number of aggressive dog incidents and to promote responsible pet ownership. The changes come in response to community concerns about safety and the increasing number of dog-related complaints. The ACS will also have the power to enforce these new rules more stringently, aiming to decrease the stray dog population and enhance public safety.
