On 11 June, several significant events were reported across the Pacific. In Papua New Guinea, a state of emergency was declared in the capital, Port Moresby, following riots sparked by a police strike over pay, leading to widespread looting and at least 15 deaths. In Fiji, the government announced plans to increase the minimum wage to FJ$4.50 per hour from August 1, aiming to improve living standards amidst rising costs. Meanwhile, in the Solomon Islands, the government and the opposition reached an agreement to hold a confidence vote in the Prime Minister on July 18, following political tensions. Additionally, New Zealand pledged NZ$15 million to support climate resilience in the Pacific, emphasizing the region's vulnerability to climate change impacts.
