That participation is already being felt. According to the United Way, about 50% of Gen Z say they have either attended or considered attending a protest or rally in the last year. For many, political engagement is not only a passion it's a priority. Dr. Gross believes that level of involvement reflects the strength of the democratic process.

Generation Z is increasingly engaging in political activism, driven by a strong sense of purpose and a desire to address critical issues such as climate change, gun control, and social justice. A recent survey by the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) found that 40% of young people aged 18-24 are politically active, with many participating in protests, voter registration drives, and social media campaigns. This generation's political involvement is characterized by a focus on direct action and a willingness to challenge the status quo, often using digital platforms to mobilize and amplify their voices. Influential Gen Z activists like Greta Thunberg and David Hogg exemplify this trend, inspiring their peers to take part in shaping a future that aligns with their values and concerns.
