  • WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The United States has banned imports from another tranche of companies over alleged human rights abuses involving the Uyghurs in China, targeting 37 textile, mining and solar entities, a federal government notice published on Tuesday ...

The U.S. has imposed import bans on 37 additional Chinese companies, including Huafu Fashion Co., under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). This legislation targets companies linked to forced labor in China's Xinjiang region, where the U.S. alleges severe human rights abuses against the Uyghur Muslim minority. The list now includes major players like COFCO Sugar Holding Co. and Sichuan Jingweida Technology Group Co., bringing the total number of blacklisted entities to 65. This action reflects ongoing U.S. efforts to address human rights violations in China, with the Commerce Department adding these firms to the UFLPA Entity List, which presumes that goods produced by these companies are made with forced labor unless proven otherwise.
