Tim Cullen, former Wisconsin state senator and civil rights advocate, dies

Tim Cullen, a former Wisconsin state senator known for his advocacy in civil rights and his efforts in bipartisan politics, passed away at the age of 79. Cullen served in the state Senate from 1975 to 1987 and again from 2011 to 2015, representing Janesville. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his work on health care reform, education, and economic development. He notably worked across party lines, co-authoring a book with former Republican Senate Majority Leader Dale Schultz titled "Divided We Stand: The Fight Over Partisan Gerrymandering and the Future of Democracy." Cullen's commitment to civil rights was highlighted by his involvement in the passage of the Wisconsin Fair Housing Act in 1977. His death was announced by his family, and he is remembered for his dedication to public service and his efforts to bridge political divides.
