More than a year after several Regina doctors filed a complaint with the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission alleging racism and unprofessionalism, the government has ordered a third-party review to improve working conditions at Regina's hospitals.
The Saskatchewan government has initiated a third-party review to investigate allegations of racism and misconduct at Regina's hospitals, following concerns raised by the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) about the treatment of Indigenous patients. The review will be conducted by the Health Quality Council, focusing on the emergency departments at Regina General Hospital and Pasqua Hospital. This decision comes after reports of nurses being disciplined for speaking out against racism, and aims to address systemic issues within the healthcare system. The review will look into the culture, policies, and practices at these facilities, with the goal of improving patient care and staff working conditions. The government has emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for both patients and healthcare workers.
