This action was taken following an incident where Judge Carnaroli declined to marry a lesbian couple, citing her religious beliefs, despite having previously officiated other weddings. The couple, who had been together for 16 years, felt discriminated against by her refusal. The DA's office argues that her decision raises concerns about her impartiality in criminal cases, particularly those involving the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. The matter has been escalated to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, which will decide on any disciplinary actions.
