Protests have become part of daily life in Bangladesh's capital, with residents either taking part as political parties jostle for power after an uprising last year -- or avoiding them.Bangladesh's interim leader Muhammad Yunus, the 84-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner who is leading the caretaker government as its chief adviser until elections are held, has called for parties to build unity and calm intense political power struggles.

Political protests in Bangladesh have severely disrupted daily life, with opposition parties demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to allow a neutral caretaker government to oversee the upcoming elections. The protests, led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies, have resulted in violent clashes with police, leading to at least four deaths and numerous injuries. The unrest has caused significant economic impact, with businesses, schools, and transport systems affected. The government has responded by arresting thousands of opposition members, while the BNP vows to continue its campaign until their demands are met. The situation has raised concerns about the stability and democratic process in the country as the election approaches.
