The first monsoon showers in Mumbai led to widespread waterlogging and traffic chaos, prompting a political slugfest between the ruling BJP and the opposition Shiv Sena (UBT). The BJP criticized the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government for neglecting infrastructure development, while Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray accused the current administration of failing to prepare for the monsoon despite having ample time. The heavy rainfall, which amounted to 117.9 mm in the city and 109.7 mm in the suburbs within 24 hours, caused significant disruptions, with citizens expressing frustration over the lack of effective measures to mitigate the annual monsoon woes.
