Many figures from across the island of Ireland offer congratulations as Pope Leo XIV is elected.

Bishop Mark Strange of the Scottish Episcopal Church has expressed his satisfaction with the swift election of Reverend Canon Anne Dyer as the new Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney, following the retirement of the previous bishop, Dr. Robert Gillies. The election, which took place on May 24, 2023, at St Andrew's Cathedral in Aberdeen, was described by Bishop Strange as "reasonably quick" and a testament to the diocese's commitment to its future. Reverend Canon Dyer, who has served in various roles within the church, including as a canon at St Paul's Cathedral in Dundee, will be consecrated on November 4, 2023. Bishop Strange praised Dyer's experience and her potential to lead the diocese effectively, expressing confidence in her ability to guide the church through future challenges.
