Time to Kill NPR and PBS

PBS and NPR don't run the stations across the nation that carry their programs, they license programming to them. Those affiliates pay fees to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to be a part of the group. Appropriations for those stations, and ultimately those fees, doesn't manifest itself from sales of Rick Steves DVDs.
In his column published on April 1, 2025, Derek Hunter argues for the defunding and elimination of NPR (National Public Radio) and PBS (Public Broadcasting Service), asserting that these publicly funded entities have become tools of left-wing propaganda rather than neutral public services. He criticizes their programming for promoting what he perceives as biased political agendas, particularly on issues like climate change, race, and gender, which he believes alienate conservative viewers and listeners. Hunter suggests that the rise of alternative media platforms has made NPR and PBS obsolete, and he calls on Congress to redirect their federal funding to more pressing national needs, such as infrastructure and defense. He concludes by urging taxpayers to demand accountability and an end to what he describes as the misuse of their money to support biased media outlets.
