BJP MP Nishikant Dubey suggested the repeal of Articles 26 to 29 of the Indian Constitution following a terror attack in Pahalgam, arguing that these articles, which pertain to the right to manage religious affairs and cultural and educational rights, are being misused. Articles 26 and 27 deal with the freedom to manage religious affairs and the prohibition of taxes on religious grounds, respectively. Article 28 addresses freedom as to attendance at religious instruction or worship in certain educational institutions, while Article 29 safeguards the interests of minorities by providing them the right to conserve their language, script, and culture. Dubey's comments sparked controversy, with critics arguing that these constitutional provisions are essential for protecting religious and cultural rights in India.
