President Bola Tinubu-led federal government has lashed out at Professor Pat Utomi over the shadow government composed of members from various opposition parties.
In an article from Legit.ng, the Nigerian presidency criticized political economist Pat Utomi for forming a "shadow government" ahead of the 2023 elections, labeling it as a publicity stunt and questioning its legality and effectiveness. The presidency, through Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, argued that such a move by Utomi and his group, the National Consultative Front (NCFront), was not only unprecedented in Nigeria but also lacked the necessary structure and mandate to function as a legitimate shadow government. Shehu further emphasized that the current administration, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, remains focused on governance and delivering on its promises, dismissing Utomi's initiative as an irrelevant distraction.
