'Greatest job in the world': Economic Alliance director reflects on role in community development

Doug Neumann soon will step down this year after 19 years in economic development.

Doug Neumann, who has been the director of the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance since 2016, is set to leave his position at the end of June 2023. During his tenure, Neumann focused on fostering economic development in the Cedar Rapids area, emphasizing collaboration between businesses, government, and educational institutions. He played a key role in initiatives such as the Go Cedar Rapids talent attraction campaign and the development of the Cedar Rapids Downtown District. Neumann expressed pride in the progress made under his leadership, including the attraction of new businesses and the creation of jobs, and he remains optimistic about the future economic growth of the region. He plans to take some time off before deciding on his next career move.
