Morocco is ramping up efforts to increase clean energy in its electricity mix through large-scale projects and stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors, according to a new report by British firm Solar Power Europe.

Morocco is intensifying its efforts to expand its solar energy sector, aiming to become a leader in renewable energy in Africa. The country has ambitious plans to increase its solar power capacity significantly, with projects like the Noor Ouarzazate Solar Complex, which is already one of the world's largest solar plants. Morocco's strategy includes forging key partnerships, notably with the United Arab Emirates, to develop solar projects that not only meet domestic needs but also aim to export green energy to Europe. These initiatives are part of Morocco's broader goal to achieve 52% of its installed electricity production capacity from renewable sources by 2030, leveraging its abundant sunlight and strategic geographical position to foster economic growth, reduce dependency on fossil fuels, and combat climate change.
