  • A majority of Americans worry that Elon Musk's drive to slash the federal government could hurt services their communities depend on and believe that billionaires have too much influence on President Donald Trump's administration,

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates that a significant portion of Americans are concerned about Elon Musk's advocacy for reducing the size of the U.S. government, fearing it could negatively impact essential services. The poll, which surveyed 1,005 U.S. adults, found that 60% of respondents believe that cutting government size would harm services like Social Security, Medicare, and infrastructure. While 33% of respondents supported the idea of a smaller government, this support was largely partisan, with 56% of Republicans in favor compared to only 17% of Democrats. Musk, who has publicly criticized government regulations and bureaucracy, has not detailed specific cuts but has expressed a general desire for less government intervention. This has led to a divide in public opinion, with many worried about the potential loss of crucial public services.
