  • HYDERABAD: The state government has decided to hold special Assembly sessions from March 1 to 5 to introduce two separate BC Reservation Bills to provide 42 per cent quota to BCs in politics, employment and education.

The Telangana government is set to introduce two separate bills in the state assembly to address the issue of Backward Classes (BC) reservations. One bill will focus on increasing the BC quota in local bodies, while the other will propose a hike in the BC reservation in educational institutions and government jobs. This move comes in response to the recent Supreme Court decision that struck down the 100% reservation for BCs in local bodies, prompting the state to adjust its reservation policies. The government aims to ensure better representation and opportunities for BCs, reflecting their significant population proportion in the state. The bills are expected to be tabled in the upcoming assembly session, with the government expressing confidence in their passage.
