OPM, following DOGE plans, sends federal workers 2nd email as AGs say not to accept
- The Office of Personnel Management, carrying out Elon Musk's plan to trim the government, has sent federal workers a follow-up email about its deferred resignation offer.
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) mistakenly sent an email to federal employees with a link to a suspicious website, following a similar error with a link to a Dogecoin-themed site. This second email, intended to provide information on the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), contained a link to a site that cybersecurity experts flagged as potentially harmful. In response, attorneys general from several states advised federal workers not to click on any links from OPM until the issue was resolved. OPM acknowledged the mistake, stating that the email was sent to a limited number of employees and that they were working to correct the error. The incident has raised concerns about the security of communications from government agencies.
