US attorney Joshua S. Levy announces departure
- Levy will officially resign on January 17th and acting first assistant U.S. Attorney Mary B. Murrane will assume the position.
U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy has announced his departure from the Department of Justice to return to private practice. His resignation will be effective at the end of June. During his tenure, which began in February 2022, Levy led significant efforts in combating violent crime, hate crimes, and civil rights violations, as well as addressing issues like the opioid epidemic and national security threats. He expressed pride in the work accomplished by his office, particularly in protecting the rights of the most vulnerable and ensuring justice for victims. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland praised Levy's contributions, highlighting his leadership in protecting civil rights and public safety. Levy will join the law firm Ropes & Gray, where he previously worked, focusing on white-collar defense, government enforcement, and crisis management.
