  • Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright faces a second lawsuit amid an unexplained leave of absence.

Tracy Moss has filed a lawsuit against Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright, alleging that Wright defamed him by publicly accusing him of being a drug dealer during a press conference in 2023. Moss, who was arrested on drug charges in 2022 but claims he was not dealing drugs, asserts that Wright's statements were false and malicious, damaging his reputation. The lawsuit seeks actual and punitive damages. Sheriff Wright's office has not yet responded to the allegations in the lawsuit, but Wright has previously defended his comments as necessary for public safety.
