The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians have purchased approximately 2,000 acres of land in Southern Oregon, known as the Wolf Creek Ranch, for $4.5 million. This acquisition, funded by the tribe's economic development funds, includes areas with significant historical and cultural importance to the tribe, such as the site of the former Siletz Indian Reservation and the location of the 1855 Table Rock Treaty. The land, which spans across Josephine and Douglas counties, will be used for conservation, cultural preservation, and potentially for economic development. The purchase also aims to restore and protect the natural habitat, including old-growth forests and salmon-bearing streams, while providing opportunities for tribal members to reconnect with their ancestral lands.
