ANC decision on GP and KZN PECs set to be finalised on Sunday

The African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC) is set to convene to deliberate on the political future of Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) following the recent elections where the ANC did not secure an outright majority in these provinces. In Gauteng, the ANC received 34.76% of the vote, while in KZN, they garnered 17.01%. The NEC meeting will focus on potential coalition arrangements, with discussions on whether to form alliances with parties like the Democratic Alliance (DA) or the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). The ANC's Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula, has indicated that the party is open to working with any party that shares its vision for transformation, but has ruled out coalitions with the MK Party and the Patriotic Alliance. The outcomes of these discussions will significantly influence the governance and policy direction in these key provinces.
