Comelec: Reprinting of fresh ballots to start Jan. 22
- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Sunday said they would restart the printing of official ballots for the May elections on Wednesday, January 22, following the temporary restraining orders (TRO) the Supreme Court handed down to them last week.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the Philippines has announced that the reprinting of new ballots for the 2025 midterm elections will commence on January 22, 2024. This initiative follows the discovery of errors in the initial batch of ballots, which were found to have incorrect names and positions of candidates. The reprinting will involve 100,000 ballots, with the process expected to be completed by February 15, 2024. Comelec Chairman George Garcia emphasized the importance of accuracy in the electoral process, ensuring that the new ballots will be thoroughly checked to prevent any further mistakes. This move is part of Comelec's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral system ahead of the crucial elections.
