DWP 'on track' to shake up PIP payments and other disability benefits

Proposals under consideration involve revising the eligibility criteria, assessment process, and the types of support offered, potentially moving away from a fixed cash benefit to a system where support could be more tailored, such as vouchers, grants, or access to shopping catalogues for specific aids. This overhaul is part of a broader effort to manage the rising costs and ensure that the benefits system supports those who need it most effectively. The consultation period for these changes is set to close on July 23, 2024.
