  • The House Administration Oversight Subcommittee, led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), accused former Rep. Liz Cheney in a scathing report Tuesday of engaging in witness tampering during the Democrat-led investigation of the Jan.
House Republicans have accused former Rep. Liz Cheney of witness tampering related to the January 6 Capitol riot investigation. They claim that Cheney, who was vice chair of the now-disbanded House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack, improperly influenced witness Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony. Specifically, they allege that Cheney provided Hutchinson with legal representation and encouraged her to change her testimony. In response, Rep. Barry Loudermilk, who chairs the House Administration Committee's oversight subpanel, has requested that the FBI investigate these allegations. The accusations stem from discrepancies in Hutchinson's accounts and her interactions with Cheney, including a meeting where Hutchinson was reportedly offered legal counsel. This development comes as part of ongoing scrutiny and contention over the handling of the January 6 investigation by the previous committee.
