N.J. needs to 'calm down' about drones, Gov. Murphy says. Sightings are down.

Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey has addressed public concerns regarding drone sightings, stating that the state needs to "calm down" about the issue as the number of reported sightings has significantly decreased. According to a report by NJ Advance Media, drone sightings in New Jersey have dropped by 90% since their peak in 2019. Murphy emphasized that while drones can pose security risks, the current situation does not warrant the level of alarm previously seen. He highlighted that the state has implemented new regulations and technologies to manage drone activity more effectively, including the use of counter-drone systems at critical infrastructure sites. The decrease in sightings is attributed to both better public understanding and stricter enforcement measures.
