PM Modi Slams Congress For Disregarding Supreme Court's Shah Bano Verdict For Vote Bank Politics

Modi highlighted that the Congress government, led by Rajiv Gandhi, passed a law to negate the court's decision which had granted maintenance to Shah Bano, a Muslim woman who had sought alimony after being divorced. Modi claimed this action by Congress was a betrayal of women's rights and an example of their appeasement politics, which he said continued to affect the country negatively. He made these remarks during a speech in Madhya Pradesh, emphasizing that such decisions have long-term detrimental effects on society and governance.
