By Wojciech Kosc in Warsaw Poland's largest private television networks, TVN and Polsat, will be added to the list of strategic companies protected from hostile takeovers by foreign-linked entities, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on December 11.

Donald Tusk, the Polish Prime Minister, has announced plans to safeguard the independent broadcasters TVN and Polsat from potential hostile takeovers, particularly from foreign entities. This statement comes in the wake of recent political shifts in Poland, where Tusk's pro-European Union coalition has taken power, reversing some of the media policies of the previous nationalist government. Tusk emphasized the importance of media freedom and independence, highlighting that these broadcasters play a crucial role in providing unbiased news and maintaining democratic checks and balances.
