Senior YSRCP leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Avanthi Srinivasa Rao announced his resignation from the party on Thursday. He quoted "personal reasons" for stepping down from the party. He also flagged concerns over the treatment of leaders and cadres and dissatisfaction with the party's functioning.

Avanthi Srinivasa Rao, a senior leader from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh, resigned from the party on May 23, 2024, citing a lack of respect and recognition from the party leadership. In his resignation letter, Rao expressed his disappointment over not being given due recognition for his contributions to the party, particularly highlighting his efforts in the recent elections. He mentioned that despite his hard work, he was not even considered for a candidacy in the elections, which led to his decision to step down. Rao also indicated that he would soon announce his future political plans, leaving open the possibility of joining another political outfit or contesting independently.
