  Officials said the suspect, James McIntyre, went through security screening prior to entering the congressional building.

A person was arrested for allegedly assaulting Rep. Nancy Mace in a Capitol Hill bathroom. The incident occurred when Mace was in the restroom and a woman, who appeared to be in distress, began shouting and then physically attacked Mace by pushing her against a wall and grabbing her shoulders. Mace managed to escape and alert Capitol Police, who arrested the woman. The assailant was not immediately identified, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Mace, who has been vocal about her support for law enforcement and her own experiences with trauma, expressed gratitude towards the Capitol Police for their swift response.
