  • Cross River government led by Bassey Otu has approved a minimum wage of N70,000. He also included agreement on consequential adjustment across all levels.

The Nigerian Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has approved the implementation of a new minimum wage of N70,000 for civil and public servants in the state, effective from May 1, 2024. This decision was made in response to the economic challenges faced by workers due to the removal of fuel subsidies and the subsequent rise in living costs. The announcement was made by the state's Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, who also mentioned that the state government is committed to improving the welfare of its workers. This move makes Edo State one of the first to implement such a significant increase in the minimum wage, aiming to alleviate financial burdens on its employees.
