- Lago, representatives of the federal government were told U.S. tariffs from the incoming Donald Trump administration cannot be avoided in the immediate term, two government sources tell CTV News.

The Canadian team expressed concerns about the impact on the integrated North American economy and the potential for retaliatory measures. Despite the tense atmosphere, both sides agreed to continue negotiations, with Canada pushing for a permanent exemption from the tariffs.
