  • Trump's first term became defined by those tax cuts, which were approved by Republicans in Congress and signed into law only after their initial campaign promise to "repeal and replace" Democratic President Barack Obama's health care law sputtered, failing with the famous thumbs-down vote by then-Sen. John McCain.

Donald Trump has outlined an ambitious economic agenda for his first 100 days if re-elected, focusing on tax cuts and deregulation. He aims to extend the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which he claims has significantly boosted the economy. Trump's plan includes making permanent the individual tax cuts set to expire in 2025, reducing the corporate tax rate from 21% to 15%, and introducing new tax benefits for workers, such as deductions for tips. Additionally, he proposes to eliminate what he describes as "job-killing regulations," particularly targeting environmental regulations like the Green New Deal, to foster business growth. Trump also plans to address inflation by promoting domestic energy production, including drilling and fracking, and to reform education by promoting school choice and reducing federal oversight. His strategy is designed to appeal to his voter base by promising economic relief and less government interference.
