  • In a significant policy shift reflective of the evolving dynamics of international travel, the Namibian government has announced that as from April 1, 2025, U.S. citizens and tourists from more than 30 other countries will be required to obtain a visa prior to entering the country.

Namibia has announced that starting from April 1, 2023, it will require visas for tourists from over 30 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and several European nations. This decision reverses a previous visa waiver policy implemented in 2019 aimed at boosting tourism. The change comes as part of a broader policy review to ensure reciprocity in visa arrangements with other countries. The Namibian government has stated that this move is to address the imbalance where many countries require Namibians to obtain visas while their citizens could enter Namibia without one. This new visa requirement might impact tourism, as Namibia has been promoting itself as a destination for adventure and wildlife tourism.
