Dr. Scott Gottlieb, former FDA Commissioner under President Trump, has emphasized the urgent need for the U.S. to address the avian flu outbreak, which has led to the culling of millions of birds and significantly driven up egg prices. In an interview with CBS News, Gottlieb highlighted that the current strategy of culling infected birds is not sustainable and suggested that the U.S. should consider vaccinating poultry against the virus. He pointed out that while vaccination could help control the spread of the virus, it might also affect international trade due to concerns over vaccine efficacy and the potential for vaccinated birds to still carry the virus.
