  • Amit Shah, addressing a BJP convention in Shirdi, claimed the party's 2024 victory in Maharashtra ended the "politics of betrayal" that began with Sharad Pawar in 1978. He credited the BJP's success to Hindutva and development and criticised Uddhav Thackeray's 2019 betrayal.

In a recent speech, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray, alleging that their political maneuvers ended the era of betrayal in Maharashtra politics. Shah accused Pawar of betraying the BJP by aligning with the Shiv Sena and NCP to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi government after the 2019 elections, despite previous alliances. He also attacked Uddhav Thackeray for not fulfilling promises made to BJP, particularly regarding the Chief Minister's position. Shah highlighted the BJP's commitment to development and stability, contrasting it with what he described as the opportunistic politics of Pawar and Thackeray. He emphasized that the mandate in Maharashtra has now shifted towards a politics of performance and integrity, away from what he termed as the "politics of betrayal."
