  • Younger Americans are much more concerned about inflation when compared to their older counterparts, a poll released on Tuesday found. The economy was one of the most important issues for voters during the 2024 presidential election.

A recent poll conducted by the Financial Times and the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business reveals that young Americans are more concerned about inflation than their older counterparts. The survey, which included 1,000 participants, found that 69% of Americans aged 18-29 view inflation as a significant issue, compared to 54% of those over 65. This heightened concern among the youth is attributed to their economic vulnerabilities, such as lower wages, higher debt levels, and the impact of inflation on their daily expenses and future financial stability. The poll also highlighted that while inflation remains a top concern across all age groups, younger adults are particularly anxious about how rising costs could hinder their ability to achieve financial milestones like buying a home or saving for retirement.
