DSWD: Nearly 5M Filipinos got help thru Akap; 99% of funds used

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Philippines has reported that nearly 5 million Filipinos have benefited from the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP), with 99% of the allocated funds being utilized. Launched in February 2024, AKAP aims to provide financial assistance to low-income families, offering P5,000 to each eligible household. The program has been instrumental in alleviating economic pressures on the poor, with DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian highlighting its success in reaching a significant portion of the intended beneficiaries. The initiative reflects the government's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations amidst economic challenges.
