  • The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday said it would soon comply with the President's order for "enhanced" guidelines on the release of funds for the controversial Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita (Akap) program.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), along with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), are collaborating to establish guidelines for the distribution of the P26 billion allocated for the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP). This initiative, announced by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., aims to provide financial assistance to low-income families, particularly those earning between P8,000 to P23,000 monthly, to help mitigate the effects of inflation. The funds will be disbursed in tranches, with each beneficiary potentially receiving up to P5,000. The program's implementation is set to begin in July, following the finalization of the guidelines which will ensure the aid reaches the intended recipients effectively.
