  • Jaipur: The BJP government in Rajasthan, on Saturday, dissolved nine districts formed by the previous Congress government. The saffron party claimed that neither was the formation of districts 'practical' nor in 'public interest.

The Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, has decided to dissolve nine districts that were established during the tenure of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. This decision was made in a cabinet meeting on March 17, 2024, aiming to revert to the administrative structure before these districts were created. The districts being dissolved include Anupgarh, Balotra, Beawar, Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman, Dudu, Gangapur City, Kekri, and Salumbar. This move will reduce the total number of districts in Rajasthan from 50 back to 33. The government cited the need for better administrative efficiency and the lack of proper infrastructure in these newly formed districts as reasons for this decision. Additionally, the government plans to address the issues faced by the public due to this administrative reshuffling.
