CACOL condemns N6.36bn allocation to renovate Tinubu, Shettima's quarters

The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has criticized the Nigerian government's decision to allocate N6.36 billion for the renovation of the official residences of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. This expenditure, part of the N2.176 trillion supplementary budget, was deemed insensitive by CACOL, especially given the current economic hardships faced by Nigerians, including high inflation and increased living costs. The group's Chairman, Debo Adeniran, highlighted the disparity between this lavish spending and the government's failure to address critical issues like poverty, unemployment, and infrastructure decay. He suggested that the funds could be better utilized to improve education, healthcare, and other essential services, questioning the government's priorities and calling for a reevaluation of such expenditures in light of the nation's pressing needs.
