ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscast coverage of Trump's Cabinet picks 'almost uniformly negative,' study finds
- ABC, CBS and NBC has been "almost uniformly negative" when covering President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet appointees, according to a new study.
A study by the Media Research Center (MRC) analyzed the coverage of former President Donald Trump's Cabinet picks on the evening newscasts of ABC, CBS, and NBC, finding that the reporting was overwhelmingly negative. The analysis, which covered the period from November 9, 2016, to January 20, 2017, revealed that out of 109 stories, 91% were negative, with only 3% positive and 6% neutral. The study highlighted that these networks frequently used negative labels like "controversial" or "divisive" for Trump's nominees, and often focused on opposition to the picks rather than their qualifications or policy implications. The MRC criticized this coverage as biased, suggesting that the media's portrayal was more about attacking Trump than providing balanced journalism.
