Ellenbrook line opens 16 years after it was first promised

The Ellenbrook Line, a long-awaited rail project in Western Australia, has finally opened 16 years after it was first promised by the state government. The $1.2 billion project, which includes a 12-kilometer extension of the Midland line, now connects Ellenbrook to central Perth, significantly reducing travel times for residents. The line features three new stations: Morley, Noranda, and Ellenbrook, and is expected to serve around 10,000 passengers daily. The opening was marked by a community event attended by local residents, officials, and politicians, including Premier Roger Cook, who highlighted the project's role in improving transport infrastructure and supporting urban growth in the region. The completion of the line is seen as a fulfillment of a major election promise and a step towards better connectivity and economic development in Perth's northeastern suburbs.
