The Indian government has issued new guidelines for the interception of phone communications, as reported by MSN. These guidelines outline strict protocols for agencies involved in such activities, emphasizing the need for lawful interception only under specific circumstances like national security, public order, or to prevent crime. The do's include obtaining necessary permissions from competent authorities, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring that the interception is proportionate to the objective. The don'ts explicitly prohibit unauthorized access, misuse of intercepted information, and sharing of data with unauthorized entities. Additionally, the guidelines stress the importance of regular review and destruction of intercepted material once the purpose is served, aiming to balance national security with individual privacy rights.
