Rodney Scott, who was nominated by former President Donald Trump to lead U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), was removed from his position shortly after President Joe Biden took office in January 2021. Scott, a 29-year veteran of the Border Patrol, had been serving as the acting commissioner of CBP. His dismissal was part of Biden's broader initiative to overhaul immigration and border policies, which included reversing many of Trump's hardline immigration measures. Scott's tenure was marked by his support for Trump's border security policies, including the construction of the border wall. His removal was seen by some as a signal of the new administration's intent to shift away from the previous administration's enforcement-focused approach to border management.
