South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that South Africa's presidency of the G20 in 2025 will prioritize the interests of Africa and the Global South. During a media briefing, Ramaphosa emphasized that the G20, which represents 85% of global GDP and two-thirds of the world's population, will be an opportunity to address critical issues like climate change, sustainable development, and global economic recovery post-COVID-19. He highlighted the need for reforms in global financial institutions to better serve developing nations, and stressed the importance of inclusive growth, reducing inequalities, and enhancing Africa's voice in global economic discussions. Ramaphosa also mentioned that South Africa aims to foster partnerships that will drive economic growth, job creation, and poverty alleviation across the continent.
